Menno Rose, murdered Constance Scholtz's son, said finding his mother's dismembered body has left a lasting mark.
Aletta Rose, the 63-year-old accused of murdering and dismembering her 79-year-old sister Constance "Connie" Scholtz, returned to the Bellville Magistrate's Court this morning, this time via video link from prison rather than in the dock.
The arrangement follows weeks of disruptive courtroom behaviour from Rose, including refusing legal representation twice, lashing out at the prosecutor, and declaring she would not attend court at all. The magistrate ordered that she appear remotely rather than in person. Ahead of today's hearing, Menno Rose the victim's son and Aletta's nephew opened up about the day he found his mother's dismembered body, a trauma that has left a lasting mark.
The first sign something was wrong was when a neighbour notified Menno that Scholtz's curtains- usually neat- appeared untidy. When he went to check on his mother at the Bellville South home, Rose told him Scholtz was away visiting family in Robertson and that she had locked the door behind her.
Aletta Rose appeared in the Bellville Magistrate's Court.
