The group noted that the victims had now spent more than 39 days in the custody of their abductors, describing the situation as evidence of a serious failure of Nigeria’s security architecture.
The Take It Back (TIB) Movement has criticised the Oyo State Government and President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the continued captivity of abducted schoolchildren and teachers in the state, insisting that the recently imposed curfew across parts of Oyo cannot substitute for concrete efforts to secure their freedom.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by its National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, the movement expressed concern over Governor Seyi Makinde’s decision to impose a 16-hour curfew in 10 Local Government Areas surrounding the Old Oyo National Park, where insecurity has worsened in recent months.
The group noted that the victims had now spent more than 39 days in the custody of their abductors, describing the situation as evidence of a serious failure of Nigeria’s security architecture.
According to the statement, while the government’s curfew order may be aimed at curbing criminal activities in the affected areas, it does little to address the immediate plight of the abducted children and teachers whose whereabouts remain unknown.
