The human rights group described the situation as a “damning indictment” of the Nigerian government’s failure to protect its citizens.
The Take It Back (TIB) Movement has slammed the Nigerian government and the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde over failure to rescue the schoolchildren and teachers abducted from Yawota and Ahoro-Esinle communities in Oriire Local Government Area of the State after 27 days they were abducted.
The human rights group described the situation as a “damning indictment” of the Nigerian government’s failure to protect its citizens.
In a statement released on Saturday by its National Coordinator, Juwon Sanyaolu, TIB expressed “deep outrage and grave concern” that 27 days after their abduction, the victims remain in captivity while their families continue to endure what it described as “unbearable pain, fear and uncertainty.”
According to the group, the prolonged delay in securing the release of the victims reflects a collapse in the Nigerian government’s primary responsibility of safeguarding lives and property.
