ABUJA: Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress APC, Comrade Timi Frank, has urged the State Security Services SSS to redirect its energy away from the arrest and detention of activist and presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore and focus instead on confronting the bandits and terrorists wreaking havoc across the country.
Frank, who serves as Ambassador of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua to East Africa and the Middle East, issued the charge in a statement on Tuesday, describing the SSS’s arrest of Sowore as a “national disgrace” and a dangerous distraction from the real security threats facing Nigeria.
“It is unfortunate that the SSS seems more interested in going after opposition figures than confronting the bandits and terrorists terrorising innocent Nigerians. This arrest is clearly politically motivated,” he said.
The activist-turned-diplomat argued that while security agencies are expending resources pursuing critics of government, armed groups continue to threaten lives and communities across the country with little resistance.
