The prison sentence for political activist Hassan Ronaghi has been upheld by the appeals court.
The political activist wrote on his account on the social media platform X that the one-year prison sentence issued against him by Branch 102 of the Malekan Criminal Court has been upheld exactly as issued by Branch 12 of the Provincial Appeals Court.
According to his post, the sentence was handed down on the charge of “spreading falsehoods with the intent to disturb public opinion to consolidate and strengthen the Zionist regime” and has now been affirmed at the appeals stage.
The political activist further noted that, in addition to this verdict, another case involving several years of imprisonment and a one-year internal exile to the city of “Sarbaz” (erroneously printed as “Sarbar” in the source text), issued by the Malekan Revolutionary Court, is currently pending at the appeals stage.
Ronaghi had previously been released from prison in October 2025 after posting a substantial bail.
