According to information obtained by IranWire, Branch 3 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Bandar Abbas has sentenced theatre actor and civil activist Forouzan Ansari to one year of discretionary imprisonment on the charge of “propaganda against the system.”
Forouzan Ansari, an artist and civil activist, was among those arrested in connection with the January 2026 protests in Bandar Abbas. She was detained on January 12 by Ministry of Intelligence officers and transferred to the ministry’s detention facility in Bandar Abbas. Following nearly ten days in custody, she was temporarily released on bail on January 22, 2026, pending trial.
Based on details received by IranWire, the court hearing concerning the charges against Forouzan Ansari was held on June 5, 2026, at Branch 3 of the Islamic Revolutionary Court of Bandar Abbas. In a verdict delivered to the artist on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, she was sentenced by the court of first instance to one year of discretionary imprisonment. Under the terms of the notice, the ruling remains subject to appeal within the legal deadline.
