The 45-year-old woman whose body was found in Crete on Sunday, three weeks after she was reported missing, died from head injuries, according to the forensic pathologist who examined her.

Speaking to radio, Stamatis Belivanis said Stavroula Leventaki received repeated blows to the head from the perpetrator, who has since confessed to her killing.

He added that stab wounds found on the victim were superficial and did not penetrate the chest.

According to reports, the suspect – a North Macedonia national – allegedly told police he had argued with Leventaki, his landlady, over the condition of the property shortly before she disappeared.

He later led authorities to a field about five kilometers from the village of Agia, where the victim’s body had been buried.
