Chantel Pasqualle-Hoorn

For the first time since the murder trial of Hanover Park mother Chantel Pasqualle-Hoorn got under way, her family has spoken publicly about the emotional toll of listening to evidence detailing her final days.

As the Western Cape High Court continues to hear testimony in the case against her husband Duncan Hoorn, family members have sat through chilling voice notes, emotional witness testimony and photographs depicting the alleged crime scene.

Hoorn has pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping, murder and defeating the administration of justice.

For Chantel's cousin, Jodie Sylvester, attending court each day has felt like reopening wounds that never fully healed.
