A man has been arrested accused of staging a violent home invasion in which he allegedly first stole a small sum in cash from a man on the western island of Kefalonia and then tried to kill him with a broken glass bottle.
A police statement Thursday only identified the suspect as a 41-year-old foreign national, and said the incident took place in the island capital of Argostoli.
The suspect was taken into custody after being reported by a 26-year-old man who accused him of forced entry into his home, stealing €60 and then slashing and injuring him with a broken bottle Wednesday.
Police said the suspect faces charges of attempted murder and robbery.
