A burglar whose preferred method of clandestine entry was to chuck an iron manhole cover through glass shopfronts has been arrested in the Athens district of Nea Ionia, authorities said Tuesday.

Police said the 26-year-old foreign national is suspected of having struck at least ten businesses in Nea Ionia since February, stealing cash and electronic devices. He was arrested in the area on Saturday afternoon by officers from a special squad formed to address the break-ins.

A police statement said the suspect was already wanted for alleged burglary, repeated damage to property and immigration law offenses.
