Khayelitsha residents who use the SASSA office in Kuyasa say long queues and poor queue management have forced some beneficiaries to wake up in the early hours of the morning to access services. SASSA says it has not previously received such complaints and has urged residents not to sleep outside the office.
Khayelitsha residents who rely on services at the SASSA office in Kuyasa say long queues, poor communication, and alleged queue-jumping have placed a heavy strain on beneficiaries, with some claiming they have been forced to wake up in the early hours of the morning or sleep outside the facility to access services.
Residents from the BM Section and surrounding areas said the situation at the office had become exhausting, particularly for elderly people, people with disabilities, and those dependent on social grants.
Residents have also taken to social media to vent their frustration, accusing the office of poor queue management and a lack of clear communication.
One resident claimed beneficiaries were repeatedly turned away after waiting for hours.
