According to the organisation, the matter extends beyond Sowore as an individual and touches on broader issues concerning the protection of constitutional rights and the credibility of democratic institutions in the country.
The Arewa Youth Ambassadors (AYA) has expressed strong concerns over the revocation of the bail granted to human rights activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, warning that the development raises serious questions about the state of democracy, judicial independence, and the rule of law in Nigeria.
In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Comrade Yahaya M. Abdullahi, the group said the decision to revoke Sowore’s bail and order his arrest was troubling, particularly amid reports that the activist had formally communicated with the court regarding the circumstances surrounding his appearance.
According to the organisation, the matter extends beyond Sowore as an individual and touches on broader issues concerning the protection of constitutional rights and the credibility of democratic institutions in the country.
“The strength of any democratic nation is measured not by the power of its leaders but by the independence of its institutions and their ability to administer justice without fear, favour, or political influence,” the statement said.
