Police in the Greater Athens region said Tuesday they have broken a large cocaine trafficking ring with profits of at least €900,000, arresting nine suspected members including the entire leadership.
A police statement said another five people are being sought on suspicion of involvement in the gang. The nine suspects arrested – including the alleged leader and three lieutenants – face charges of belonging to a criminal organisation, money laundering and drugs and firearms offenses.
A series of raids in the Greater Athens region on June 10 also led to the confiscation of more than 800 grams of the drug, three handguns, more than a hundred rounds of ammunition, and seven pairs of precision scales.
The gang is thought to have been active since December 2025 at least, while alleged members used encrypted apps and constantly changed their mobile phones to avoid detection.
