U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.3% in morning trading. Redcare Pharmacy rose 5.7% and Puma rose 4.8%. On the other hand, STMicroelectronics sunk 2.5%, and Associated British Foods dropped 1.9%. The FTSE 100 added 0.2%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.3% and Germany's DAX climbed 0.2%.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index was flat at 96.23.
In commodities, Brent crude fell 0.8% to $82.47 a barrel, and WTI crude fell 0.8% to $80.08 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 0.2% to 42.6 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield was flat at 2.953%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 2 basis points to 4.463% from 4.481%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
