U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were up 0.6% and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.6%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.
In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 climbed 0.3% in morning trading. Beijer Ref Series B rose 7.9% and BE Semiconductor added 3.9%. On the other hand, Halma PLC dropped 11.5%, and Nemetschek slipped 4.1%. The FTSE 100 added 0.3%. Other stocks in Europe were mixed as France's CAC 40 increased 0.2% and Germany's DAX was flat.
The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index fell 0.1% to 96.54.
In commodities, Brent crude rose 0.2% to $93.30 a barrel, and WTI crude climbed 0.4% to $90.40 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was up 1% to 50.5 euros a megawatt hour.
The German 10-year Bund yield declined by 1 basis point to 3.074% from 3.079%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury fell by 2 basis points to 4.54% from 4.559%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.
