Summer conditions are firmly taking hold across Bulgaria, with Monday expected to bring plenty of sunshine and temperatures climbing as high as 33 degrees in some parts of the country. The warm weather will dominate for most of the day, although atmospheric instability is forecast to increase later in the afternoon.

Forecasters expect the development of cumulus and rain clouds over certain regions, creating conditions for brief but potentially intense showers. Thunderstorms are also possible, while isolated hailstorms may accompany some of the stronger weather cells.

Winds will remain generally light and come from the west-northwest, although residents of the Danube Plain may experience temporarily moderate gusts. Daytime temperatures will range from 28 to 33 degrees, while Sofia is expected to see highs of around 29 degrees.

Weather conditions are expected to become more unsettled overnight into Tuesday. Northern Bulgaria will be most affected by incoming precipitation and thunderstorm activity. Meteorologists warn that some of the storms could be particularly intense, bringing heavy rainfall and a risk of hail.

Mountain areas will enjoy mostly sunny skies during the first half of the day. As temperatures rise, cloud development will increase, leading to showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon and continuing into the night. Winds in higher elevations will be moderate to strong from the west-northwest. Temperatures are forecast to reach around 23 degrees at 1,200 meters and approximately 16 degrees at 2,000 meters.
