Authorities are investigating whether the fatal shooting of a 35-year-old man in central Athens’ Exarchia district is linked to drug trafficking, state broadcaster ERT reported Sunday.
The man was found dead late Saturday at the intersection of Kallidromiou and Benaki streets with gunshot wounds to the head.
Investigators are also examining the possibility that the victim was chased by one or more attackers before being shot.
Police said preliminary evidence suggests a 9mm handgun was used.
Five shell casings were recovered and sent for forensic analysis as the investigation continues.
