The Western Cape government has officially inaugurated the new Hornlee Clinic, a R48.7 million replacement facility that will soon serve residents of Hornlee, Knysna, and the surrounding areas.
The Western Cape Department of Health noted that the previous clinic lacked sufficient space and was too congested to offer comprehensive services. Although the COVID-19 pandemic caused delays in the project schedule, building work was set to begin on July 1, 2024, with the facility expected to be finished by April 1, 2025.
The facility features specialised areas for chronic and acute treatment, along with dedicated spaces for consultations and counselling, a dispensary, and upgraded administrative offices. Patient comfort is prioritised with enhanced waiting zones. The Clinic is expected to be fully operational by July 1, 2026.
This investment underscores the Western Cape government's dedication to providing all residents with access to high-quality healthcare, ensuring services are delivered in a respectful and dignified setting, regardless of location.
