The Limpopo Central Academic Hospital is a landmark investment that will do exactly that. With a budget of R5 billion, this state-of-the-art facility will deliver 488 beds, 17 operating theatres, specialised oncology services and advanced maternal and child healthcare units.
As an academic hospital, this project goes far beyond bricks and mortar, playing a critical role in training the next generation of doctors, nurses, and specialists, and strengthening healthcare systems across the province while improving access to quality care for communities.
Currently under construction in Polokwane, and steadily progressing toward its planned completion in July 2028, the project reflects strong collaboration between the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA), the Limpopo Provincial Government, and key stakeholders.
The hospital is also set to deliver lasting economic and social impact; supporting local development, enhancing skills and positioning Polokwane as a hub for healthcare and academic excellence.
