Minister Wenger and team officially opening the depot.
At the Tygerberg Hospital Estate, a new Provincial Linen Depot valued at R11.4 million has been officially opened by the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness, which will ensure uninterrupted healthcare services across the province.
While linen services operate behind the scenes, clean linen is vital for infection prevention, patient dignity, and daily operations. Patients may not see these complex provincial logistics, but they experience their importance in every clean sheet, gown, and blanket.
Mireille Wenger, the Western Cape Minister of Health and Wellness, stated: "The strongest health systems are not measured only by what happens at a patient's bedside. They are measured by everything that makes excellent care possible long before a patient ever meets a doctor or nurse.”
She emphasised that the depot represents an investment in bolstering the resilience of our health system regarding fundamental necessities such as clean linen.
