Police are investigating new evidence in the killings of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son iin the village of Loggos, in the municipality of Aigialeia in western Greece, focusing on the woman’s 65-year-old partner, who reported finding the bodies.

The man, an Italian national, told investigators he woke up and discovered the victims dead. He has denied involvement, but officers are examining what they described as potentially incriminating evidence.

Police said a washed shirt belonging to him was found with traces of blood, and that he had scratches on his hands under examination.

Investigators also reported a strong smell of alcohol inside the home, which they said could indicate an attempt to obscure evidence.

A cartridge from an air gun was found inside the house, which showed no signs of forced entry, authorities said.
