A 65-year-old Italian man has been charged in connection with the killing of a woman and her adult son in the Peloponnese, authorities said Wednesday.

Police spokeswoman Constantia Dimoglidou said the man, who had already been detained on weapons possession charges, is now facing a homicide charge over the deaths Tuesday of a 54-year-old woman and her 26-year-old son in Loggos, Aigialeia.

Speaking on Skai TV, Dimoglidou said investigators found “several contradictions” in the suspect’s testimony and other evidence that support the homicide charge.

“That is why the police report submitted to the prosecutor’s office will formally include a homicide charge,” she said.

The suspect denies any involvement in the killings.
