The police are yet to apprehend the perpetrators involved in the murder of an unidentified man on the premises of the combined court complex in Coimbatore on June 1.Police sources said that they have zeroed in on suspects, including a few of the staff who were on security duty at the court complex on the intervening night of May 31 and June 1.The unidentified man was found dead in a pool of blood close to a bank on the court premises on June 1 morning. Though a fall from height while scaling the compound wall was initially suspected as the cause of death, preliminary findings of the post-mortem indicated that an injury on the head was likely to have been suffered in an assault, police sources said.“We are waiting for the autopsy report for further alterations in Sections. As of now investigations are going on based on the FIR registered for unnatural death under Section 194 of the BNSS,” said a police officer.The police examined visuals from multiple surveillance cameras from the court premises and surrounding places. Efforts are also on to trace the identity of the deceased aged about 40. The needle of suspicion fell on a few members of the security staff who were on night duty, as the court complex is guarded by them, with the gates on Government Arts College Road and Red Cross roundabout remaining closed. Surveillance cameras are also functional across the court. Claiming that there was no delay in the investigation or external interventions, the officer added that the police were waiting for forensic reports and the perpetrators will be arrested soon.
