The police on Wednesday arrested three youths on charge of murdering a 32-year-old man near Sulur in Coimbatore district.

E. Gokul (24), A. Vignesh (24) and V. Sabareesan (25), all residents of Appanaickenpatti near Sulur, were arrested for murdering D. Bharath (32) from the same locality.

The police said that Bharath, a painter by occupation, had previously worked at a mobile phone store run by Gokul at Selakkarichal near Sulur. Gokul had allegedly removed Bharath from work, accusing him of having stolen an expensive mobile phone.

Bharath was found dead at the waiting area of a graveyard at Appanaickenpatti on Tuesday morning. The Sulur police shifted the body to Government Medical College and ESI Hospital, where post-mortem findings revealed that the man died of assault.

The police launched an investigation based on a complaint from Bharath’s parents, who said that the Gokul, Vignesh and Sabareesan picked him from home late on Monday, after which he did not return. The police questioned the three men separately, during which they confessed to have assaulted Bharath and left him fatally injured at the waiting area of the graveyard on Monday night.
