The police on Friday arrested two persons, including a 16-year-old boy, for murdering a youth from their neighbourhood near Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore district early on Thursday.Mathesh (22) and a 16-year-old boy from Sikkalampalayam near Kinathukadavu were arrested for the murder of S. Aswin (22) from the neighbouring Solavampalayam village. Mathesh allegedly suffered a fracture on his right arm when the police tried to apprehend him. According to the police, the accused and the deceased knew each other. Aswin, a construction labourer, went to his friend Vishnu’s house at Sikkalampalayam on Wednesday night, consumed alcohol with him and slept over.The two accused trespassed into house in the early hours of Thursday and assaulted Aswin, who was under the influence of alcohol, due to previous enmity. They recorded videos of the assault and took a selfie with the victim’s body, which were posted on Instagram.The police launched a hunt for the two accused who escaped after the murder. The two were arrested on Friday. Mathesh was brought to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for a medical examination of his fracture. Published - August 07, 2026 07:30 pm IST
