Special Court For the Trial of Bomb Blast Cases in Coimbatore on Tuesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for murdering a Tiruchi native at Onapalayam on the outskirts and burying his body in 2021.Judge R. Gokul Murugan awarded the punishment and a fine of ₹26,000 each to P. Senthilkumar (42) from Sundapalayam near Vadavalli, who had been running men’s salon, and a barber employed by him, namely Nandhakumar (45) of Tiruchi.As per the prosecution case, Nandhakumar’s relative Kumar of Kulithalai in Tiruchi was working as a barber in Senthilkumar’s salon. Senthilkumar and Nandhakumar assaulted Kumar on the night of April 9, 2021, after he started working in another salon at Sowripalayam. Kumar died the next day, following which the duo buried the body in a deserted place within the limits of Thondamuthur police station. Two others, namely Kapil Dev (36) and Arul Prakasam (38), had been charged for helping them dispose of the body. The court found Senthilkumar and Nandhakumar guilty of the crime and awarded the punishment. Kapil Dev and Arul Prakasam were acquitted, said K. Karthikeyan who appeared for the prosecution.
