The Special Court For the Trial of Bomb Blast Cases in Coimbatore on Friday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for murdering his brother near Pollachi in 2021.Judge R. Gokul Murugan awarded the punishment to K. Krishnamoorthy (45) of Kottur Road near Pollachi for murdering his elder brother K. Arumugam. He was also fined ₹21,000,According to the police, the siblings had been doing painting works for a living. Krishnamoorthy found his brother consuming alcohol in front of his house on July 5, 2021, when there were regulations in liquor sale due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Krishnamoorthy assaulted Arumugam with a sickle when the latter refused to share the liquor with him. Arumugam was rushed to Government Hospital, Pollachi, and later to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where he died.K. Karthikeyan appeared for the prosecution in the case.
