A British hiker who required help after being injured on Mount Olympus, Greece’s highest mountain, was rescued Friday.

The 34-year-old woman was located near the Zonaria location below the 2,917-meter summit. A group of 15 fire service staff took part in the search and rescue operation, assisted by volunteers and a drone.

The incident came days after a Spanish hiker died on the upper reaches of Olympus, after running into trouble in a snow-covered area.

The mountain is Greece’s most popular, attracting experienced climbers as well as recreational hikers. Accidents are frequent.
