Rescue teams have located a body believed to be that of a Spanish climber who had been missing for a week on Mount Olympus.

The body was spotted by a mountaineering team participating in the search operation in an inaccessible area known as Louki Kakoskala on the mountain’s slopes.

The climbers alerted authorities after making the discovery, prompting firefighters to launch an operation to reach and recover the body.

The climber had started off early Wednesday last week from the Spilios Agapitos mountain refuge, at an altitude of 2,060 meters, for the Mytikas summit at 2,918 meters, but has not been heard from since.
