According to CEFSAN, the latest incidents are part of a troubling pattern of violence that has repeatedly targeted schools across Nigeria, leaving children exposed to fear, trauma and uncertainty.
The Centre for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CEFSAN) has knocked the President Bola Tinubu-led Nigerian government for failing in its fundamental responsibility to protect children, accusing the authorities of effectively abandoning the abducted schoolchildren and teachers to the kidnappers and terrorist groups.
The group launched the attack in a statement issued on Friday in reaction to the recent abduction of over 30 students and teachers from three schools in Oyo State and the disappearance of dozens of children in Borno State.
In the statement signed by its Executive Director, Yusha'u Sani Yankuzo, CEFSAN condemned the government's continued inability to prevent attacks on schools despite years of promises, security operations and substantial budgetary allocations to the sector.
