Human Rights Centre Knocks Tinubu Government Over Killing Of 23 Zamfara Farmers, Demands 'State Of Emergency'

The group accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu for failing in its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

The Centre for Human Rights and Social Advancement (CEFSAN) has condemned the killing of at least 23 farmers by suspected armed bandits in the Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The group accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu for failing in its constitutional responsibility to protect the lives and property of Nigerians.

Describing the latest attack as another tragic indication of the worsening security crisis in the country, the organisation regretted that repeated military operations and government assurances had failed to provide meaningful protection for rural communities vulnerable to attacks.

In a statement issued on Friday by its Executive Director, Yusha'u Sani Yankuzo, CEFSAN urged President Tinubu to immediately declare a state of emergency on insecurity in Zamfara and other violence-ravaged states, insisting that the Federal Government must move beyond rhetoric and adopt more effective security measures.
