Human rights activist and presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, calling him “a foolish man” over remarks in which Wike accused Nigerians of politicising insecurity across the country.

Sowore made the comments while joining members of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), FCT Chapter, in a protest demanding urgent government intervention for schoolchildren and teachers reportedly abducted by kidnappers and terrorist groups in Oyo State and other parts of Nigeria.

Addressing the crowd outside the FCT Minister’s office, Sowore criticised Wike’s insensitivity to the plight of victims and their families.

He noted that Wike was “fortunate” not to have been present when the protesters arrived, implying that his presence might have provoked a more direct confrontation.
