“Omoyele Sowore is a journalist, an activist, and a presidential candidate, and he has the freedom of expression in the constitution of the Nigerian government,” she said.
Nigerian journalist and activist, Kemi Olunloyo, has attacked the administration of President Bola Tinubu over the prosecution and prison remand of human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, for calling the President a “criminal”.
Olunloyo, who described the action as a grave assault on freedom of expression and democracy, demanded the immediate release of Sowore, repeal of the Cybercrime Act, and President Tinubu’s resignation.
Speaking with SaharaReporters in an exclusive interview on Monday, Olunloyo warned that Nigeria was entering what she described as a “dangerous time” for democracy, insisting that the government’s actions against Sowore were unconstitutional.
“I want to use this means to tell Nigerians that we are in a dangerous time in our democracy. Everything the government is doing is 100 percent wrong,” she said.
