Greece is the 12th most expensive tourism destination in Europe for short-term rental accommodations, out of 42 countries, based on data published on Friday by AirDNA, which calculates the daily cost of accommodations on an annualized basis.

Based on this, the average cost in Greece is €141 per night, compared to €417 in the most expensive country in Europe, Monaco.

The top five most expensive destinations are completed by Iceland (€211/night), Andorra (€189/night), Switzerland (€184/night) and Great Britain (€176/night).

With regard to the Greek market, the element of very high seasonality is interesting, even in relation to other summer destinations in Southern Europe. According to AirDNA, Greece has the largest difference in accommodation prices between the summer months and the rest of the year.

In the summer, the cost of accommodations soar by 55%, to €174/night, compared to €112/night in the rest of the year, which also explains the increasing preference of many visitors from abroad for accommodations at other times of the year.
