Hotel prices and occupancy rates continue to increase as demand for travel to Greece remains strong. Although this picture may differ significantly from destination to destination and depending on the hotel category, the broader trend remains upward, according to research data for the first five months of 2026 from the Institute of Tourism Research and Forecasting of the Hellenic Chamber of Hotels.
The average rate of a double room between 2026 and 2025, on a month-by-month basis is as follows: In January, the average price was €77 compared to €74 in 2025.
In February, it was €86, from €79 a year earlier, while in March it was €86 against €81 in 2025. In April, the price difference flipped, with average rate at €104 compared to €109 in 2025.
In May, the rate rose to €117, from €112 in 2025. Regarding the average occupancy rates of hotel units, the data shows that in January, occupancy reached 42% in 2026 (from 40% in 2025).
In February, it rose to 50% from 44% last year, while in March, occupancy reached 51%, from 50% in 2025. In April, occupancy was at 48% compared to 49% in 2025, attributed to the fact that Easter this year was earlier. Finally, for May, the average rate was 63.2% from 62% a year earlier.
