A police officer was arrested Thursday evening after officers found weapons, ammunition and thousands of euros in cash during a roadside check in southern Athens.

The officer, who serves in the courts transfers directorate, was stopped Thursday evening by a motorcycle patrol on Vouliagmenis Avenue while riding a motorcycle without license plates.

During the search, officers allegedly found two pistols, 262 rounds of ammunition, pepper spray, two knives and about €8,000 in cash in his possession.
