The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations announced that security agents affiliated with IRGC Intelligence raided the home of teachers’ union activist Mahmoud Beheshti on Tuesday morning, May 26. The agents searched the premises and confiscated some of his personal and communication devices.
According to the statement released by the council, after searching the residence, the agents ordered Mahmoud Beheshti to report to the security follow-up office in Langarud to provide explanations.
Mahmoud Beheshti is a well-known union activist, a board member of the Tehran Teachers’ Trade Association, and a member of the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations. In response to this action, the Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations issued a statement condemning the ongoing arrests and security crackdowns on union activists, while emphasizing the legal right of educators and labor advocates to pursue their demands.
The council also called for an end to security-driven crackdowns against union activists, respect for citizenship rights, and freedom to engage in civil society activities.
