The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations (CCITTA) reported that Mojtaba Amiri, a contract teacher with the Ministry of Education in Ardabil, has been dismissed and permanently barred from teaching following an administrative and ideological vetting process (Gozinesh).
According to the teachers’ union, Amiri had already faced a “suspension from service” one year earlier due to his reported “activity on Instagram.”
Ultimately, the Ministry of Education’s vetting board issued a ruling rejecting Mojtaba Amiri’s general qualifications to teach, resulting in the formal termination of his employment and his dismissal from the education system.
The CCITTA stated that his social media activity and Instagram posts were cited as key factors in the vetting board’s decision and that his formal appeal was subsequently rejected.
The Coordinating Council condemned the dismissal, stating that firing teachers for peaceful online activity and for expressing personal views violates the principles of freedom of expression, job security, and civil rights.
