YRC said it is disturbing that a matter arising from comments made in a school WhatsApp group is being handled by the homicide section of the police.

The Youth Rights Campaign (YRC) has accused the Nigeria Police Force of acting on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ezzy International College of Nursing Science, Enugu, Gloria Bertram Okoli, to summon the expelled student nurse, Mrs Ifeoma Nwaogaranya, and her husband to the Homicide Unit of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Enugu State, over comments she made on the school’s WhatsApp group.

In a statement signed by its National Coordinator, Michael Adaramoye Lenin, and National Secretary, Francis Nwapa, YRC described the police invitation as intimidation, harassment, and a dangerous abuse of state power aimed at silencing dissent and punishing students for expressing opinions.

According to the group, the invitation letter accused the couple of “conspiracy, criminal libel, and defamation of character” and directed them to report to the FCID office on Monday, May 25, 2026.
