A fisherman has been arrested accused of murdering a man found unconscious overnight in the sea off the southeastern Aegean Sea island of Kalymnos, authorities said Monday.
A Coast Guard statement said the 47-year-old victim was taken to the Kalymnos hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Both the victim and the suspect, the owner of the fishing boat from which he was reported to have fallen overboard southwest of Kalymnos late Sunday, had been arrested for alleged drugs offenses last week and released pending the investigation.
Small quantities of cannabis and narcotic pills had allegedly been found on the fishing boat.
