Sowore’s reaction came after reports that a Nigerian court sentenced Adeyeye to two years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to charges linked to spreading false information about the daughter of singer Adekunle Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold, and his wife, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi.

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has criticised the use of the Nigeria Police Force, describing it as a “private army for the rich and famous,” following the conviction and sentencing of social media user Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, popularly known as Swanky_concept.

Sowore’s reaction came after reports that a Nigerian court sentenced Adeyeye to two years imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to charges linked to spreading false information about the daughter of singer Adekunle Kosoko, also known as Adekunle Gold, and his wife, Simisola Kosoko, popularly known as Simi.

Adeyeye was convicted over a viral post on X (formerly Twitter) in which he falsely suggested that the couple’s daughter, Deja, had died.

In the post, he wrote: “My sincere condolences to the Adekunle family. Rip to Deja.”
