“The public humiliation of Omoyele Sowore in court today is disheartening.

Human rights lawyer and activist, Deji Adeyanju, has condemned the public humiliation of activist and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) inside court premises, describing the incident as a dangerous assault on the sanctity of the judiciary and democratic norms.

In a statement issued on Monday, Adeyanju accused security operatives of engaging in “hooliganism” within the court and warned that such conduct risks portraying Nigeria as a country that lacks respect for the rule of law.

According to him, the treatment meted out to Sowore was disheartening and unacceptable in a democratic society where every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation, is entitled to fair treatment before the law.
