Biological samples from a 25-year-old Calabrian man who was on board the KLM flight that briefly carried a South African woman who later died from the Hantavirus virus and who is said to be exhibiting symptoms consistent with the virus will be sent to Italy's premier infectious disease hospital the Spallanzani in Rome, sources said Tuesday.

The hospital denied earlier reports that the young man—who was already in quarantine—would himself be transferred to the Spallanzani and undergo tests and medical examinations to determine whether he is positive.
