The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) have intensified enforcement against dangerous driving practices, arresting 10 individuals and seizing nine motorcycles, following recent incidents of reckless riding in the city.
As part of ongoing efforts to ensure public safety, the traffic police have been conducting special drives to curb the growing trend of vehicle stunts and rash driving on public roads, which pose serious risks to both riders and other road users.
According to police, last week, 12 persons at Moolakadai and two others at the Murasoli Maran Bridge in Perambur were found riding their two-wheelers in a rash and negligent manner, causing inconvenience to the public and endangering lives.
Acting on the instructions of Commissioner of Police A. Arun, and under the supervision of Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) G. Karthikeyan, a special team was formed to identify those involved and initiate strict action.
Based on a formal complaint and identification of the motorcycles, cases were registered at the Kolathur and Pulianthope Traffic Investigation Wings. During the investigation, police arrested 10 individuals linked to the incidents and seized nine motorcycles used in the offences. In addition, four minors involved in the stunt riding were summoned along with their parents and issued a stern warning.
