The Greater Chennai City Traffic Police (GCTP) has intensified special drives on weekends and festival nights to curb bike racing and rash driving in the city. Additional personnel are being deployed for this purpose.

On Wednesday night, a special drive was conducted across major arterial roads, owing to Christmas celebrations. The police identified and seized 24 vehicles involved in rash driving and are pursuing strict legal action against the offenders.

In a press release, the GCTP emphasised the importance of celebrating festivals responsibly and urged public cooperation to ensure safe and accident-free celebrations. It also requested that incidents of rash or dangerous driving be reported promptly to its helpline at +91 90031 30103.

The GCTP has warned motorists that engaging in such activities will lead to severe consequences, including vehicle seizure and strict legal proceedings.
