As part of its ongoing efforts to ensure safer and accident-free vehicular movement across the city, the Greater Chennai Police conducted a special traffic enforcement drive from the night of June 19 to 21.The drive was carried out with a focus on curbing major traffic violations and enhancing road safety. A total of 355 traffic police personnel were deployed across Chennai for the operation. To detect and prevent offences such as drunken driving, over speeding, rash driving, and riding without helmets, the police established 122 vehicle check posts at key locations across the city. Intensive monitoring was also carried out at major road junctions.During the three-day enforcement drive, the police registered a total of 2,825 cases. According to the police, 443 cases were registered for drunken driving, 110 cases for over speeding and rash driving, and 2,272 cases for riding two-wheelers without helmets.Officials said such special enforcement drives will continue across the city to improve road discipline and reduce accidents.
