Two men died on the spot after their motorcycles collided head on near Sethubavachatram in Thanjavur district on Sunday.
The police gave the names of the victims as Sellaiyan, 60, a fisherman from Velivayal village near Sethubavachatram, and Ranjith, 24, a daily wage worker from Andikadu village.
The police said Sellaiyan was returning home to Velivayal after visiting Mallipattinam and was riding along the East Coast Road when Ranjith, travelling in the opposite direction, allegedly collided with him near a petrol bunk at Mallipattinam. Both were thrown off their vehicles and died of head injuries on the spot.
Sethubavachatram police sent the bodies to the Peravurani Government Hospital for post-mortem examination.
