Kim Sun-im's father Kim Geum-deuk joined the army in January 1953, and died in July 1953 at the age of 28 in the Korea War. His remains were discovered in Cheorwon-gun in November 2024. According to a Ministry of National Defense's national affairs compilation committee member, only 29,202 of the 138,418 killed in the Korean War were recovered, while 133,192 are unrecovered.
