A61-year-old woman has confessed to murdering her 35-year-old son and then hacking up his body into three parts before prosecutors and a preliminary investigations judge, sources said on Monday.

The hacked-up body Alessandro Venier was found in the basement of his home in the town of Gemona del Friuli last week, reportedly after his wife, a 30-year-old Colombian woman, called the police.

The reportedly motive for the murder was the domestic abuse Venier was subjecting his wife, Mailyn Castro Monsalvo, to and fears for her life if he pressed ahead with plans for the family to move to Colombia with their baby boy.

"I took care of Alexander's 'dismemberment' myself," Lorena Venier, who is a nurse by profession, told the judge, according to the sources.

"I used a hacksaw and a sheet to hold the blood and I dissected him into three pieces.
