An Italian man has allegedly been murdered and chopped into pieces by his own mother and girlfriend.

Alessandro Venier's remains were found in a rubbish bin at his home in Gemona del Friuli, near the north-eastern city of Udine.

The 35-year-old's remains were found buried in quicklime to disguise the smell. He was reportedly cut up into three parts.

A special vehicle was called in by local authorities to remove the bin, and for Venier's remains to be handed over for a post-mortem.

Venier, who worked in a local hospital, was allegedly killed by his mother Lorna Venier, a nurse, and his 30-year-old Colombian girlfriend.
